The first Indian Netflix original series, the Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte-starrer Sacred Games is now available for binge-watching on the streaming giants’ platform. The 8-part series, which is based on the 2006 novel by Vikram Chandra that goes by the same name and is front-lined by Saif’s Sartaj Singh, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s psychopath killer Ganesh Gaitonde and Radhika Apte’s Anjali Mathur is an intriguing series that is laced with ample amounts of twist and turns, which makes it the perfect series to be binge-watching over the weekend!
Here are the five reasons why you absolutely MUST WATCH Sacred Games!
1) Saif Ali Khan
Saif Ali Khan truly shows off his acting chops, because you will end up finding yourselves deeply empathizing with and rooting for Saif’s righteous cop who simply refuses to lie. Sartaj is someone whose family life is on the rocks and it becomes pretty evident as you’re 10 minutes into the pilot episode itself. Saif maintains the consistency in the tone of his character throughout, which is a tough task, especially if an actor has to do so for an 8-episode-long series.
2) Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Nawazuddin Siddiqui proves yet again as to why he is a favourite of Anurag Kashyap as he perfectly brings the Ganesh Gaitonde which we had come across in the Vikram Chandra novella to life. Ganesh here is someone who kills without remorse and is a master at walking away from a crime scene like nothing ever happened.
3) Radhika Apte
Radhika Apte’s Anjali Mathur plays the perfect ally to Saif’s Sartaj and it was just so heart-warming to see her at the centre of some serious action. In one scene, she plays the saviour to Sartaj. Good luck trying to hold yourself back from saying “You go, girl!”
4) The direction and portrayal of Mumbai
What also makes Sacred Games a must watch is that apart from its individual performances, it showcases the city of Mumbai (Referred to as Bombay in this series) in a way that has never been viewed before. Kudos to the Phantom Duo!
5) A MASTERPIECE of a story!
The series of events that transpire in Sacred Games are as unpredictable and perfectly strung together as it gets. We bet that you will keep biting your nails before you see a twist coming, and, much to your delight, the twists will be not at all like what you were expecting it to be!
