Pahalaj Nihalani OUT, Prasoon Joshi the new CBFC chief
Well, here comes a good news for all the Bollywood fans. Our very own so called sanskari Pahalaj Nihalani has been fired from the post of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chief. Mr. Nihalani has been replaced by famous lyricist Prasoon Joshi. He will be in charge of the team for the next three years.
The Information and Broadcasting Ministry in a statement said “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Cinematograph Act, 1952 (37 of 1952) read with rule 3 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 1983, the Central Government is pleased to appoint Sh. Prasoon Joshi as Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification in an honorary capacity from 11th August 2017 for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier,”
Pahalaj Nihalani made headlines thanks to his disapproval of films like Udta Punjab, Lipstick Under My Burkha, and the recent Jab Harry Met Sejal, and, of course, Babumoshai Bandukbaaz.
Prasoon Joshi is an eminent personality in the industry. He has been honored with the National Film Award for ‘Best Lyrics‘ twice, for his work in Taare Zameen Par, and Chittagong. He was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2015, for his achievement in the fields of Literature, Media, and Advertising.
With the new CBFC chief, we hope to see some bold and meaningful cinema without any cuts or filtration.
