Pahlaj Nihalani lashes out at team Babumoshai Bandookbaaz!

24 hours after the Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA) gathered to support Kushan Nandy’s Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, our very own Doodh Se Dhule Pahlaj Nihalani has come out to do his Bandookbaazi at the movie supporters, who are allegedly defaming the Certification Board.

Nihalani claims that the meeting was a premeditated event so that the film gets more publicity (Like Nihalani would have said anything else) with the support of “disgruntled elements” from the CBFC (Ufff, I love how he describes it)

He says “Look at the timing of their so-called revolt against the CBFC. Kushan Nandy (director) and his producer (Kiran Shroff) had come to us for a certificate in the first week of July. We had given them an ‘A’ certificate with many cuts which included graphic scenes of love making and explicit references to inflamed body parts.”

(Wait a minute, Mr. Nihalani, you have anyways given a film an A certificate, that means people of the age 18 and above only can watch the film. In our country, people of that age are well aware of the things you’ve asked to cut down. Please tell us as to WHY do any of your cuts make sense!)

They had the choice of either going to the Revising Committee or the Tribunal (Film Certification Appellate Tribunal). They chose to go straight to the Tribunal. Now when the Tribunal is viewing their film this week, they suddenly decide to create a stir around their film. And what better target than the CFBC? Where were they for a month? What happened to suddenly awaken their dormant liberal impulses?”

(We bet that you would have said the same thing irrespective of the timing. The makers wouldn’t have even gone to the Tribunal if the CBFC chief himself was more relevant to the 21st century, you see)

“Like I said, they waited for almost a month and decided to make a noise on the eve of the film’s viewing by the Tribunal about the CBFC’s tyranny, injustice, and non-liberal attitude. They are being supported from elements from within the CBFC who claim to be the face of liberalism in the CBFC.”

(Well, if you understand that what your certification board is doing is called tyranny and the acts are purely serving injustice and the attitude is non-liberal, why don’t you stop it? Also, I understand that there are good people also in the CBFC, you see)

“The meeting with the IFTDA was supposed to be attended by filmmakers. But there were individuals at the meeting who have not made a film in decades.”

(You aren’t too far behind, Mr. Nihalani. Your last film was in 2003. Well, if as per your logic, if people who haven’t made a movie in a long time shouldn’t be in that meeting, then what does your logic tell you about yourself?)

Nihalani concluded by saying “You (the makers of Babumoshai Bandookbaaz) claim that members of the CBFC misbehaved with you. And you are supported in your allegation by members of the CBFC. Please prove your allegation or be ready with answers in the court.”

Let’s hope for the best and hope that there is some liberalism present within the members of the tribunal.
