CONTROVERSY: Is Aamir Khan buying his own tickets to Dangal?
Dangal has not only been topping movie charts but also winning hearts all over the world. Everyone has been talking about the stellar performance of the star cast. Right from the ace actor, Aamir Khan to the newbies Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra!
Recently Suchita Dalal, a journalist and social activist’s twitter conversation was something that couldn’t help but grab our attention. The exchange between the two highlighted the difference between the number of people actually watching ‘Dangal’ in theatres and the number of bookings reflected on online ticket booking portals!
how come this happens with #aamirKhan movies? Cannot be a co-incidence. Last time, half of Regal was empty for PK on Christmas Day colaba https://t.co/Boft7doQKF

@suchetadalal available.Still booked 2 tickets.When entered theater,around 15% seats still empty. Same strategy for promotion like #Pk 2/2.

DNA had earlier reported “Their deal is such that if the film crosses the 300 figure Salman would get a big chunk of partnership. When Adi approached Salman for Sultan, the star was quite clear he wanted the same deal as Aamir Khan (for Dhoom:3) and Shah Rukh Khan (for Fan) got — a 80-20 profit-sharing ration. Adi had agreed because top stars like Aamir, SRK and Salman, rake in the big bucks. But showing lower figures means lesser profits for Salman. For Ek Tha Tiger, too, YRF stopped at the Rs 199.6 crore-mark when everyone in the trade knew it had crossed the Rs 200 cr-mark.’’
Is this the reason Aamir and the makers of ‘Dangal’ are doing this? Aamir has always been known for picking movies that set themselves apart. On picking movies like these, the films speak for themselves and have made Aamir the star he is today, and hence, we see no reason for him to rig numbers for his big release.
