Time and again, we have seen the social issues of dowry, bribing and gender equality being addressed in films, but Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana is a rather bold take on these subjects.

How about seeing the female protagonist running away from the altar to choose an independent life over being married to the man she loves? When was the last time you saw something like that? That’s Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana for you!

The film is the story of Aarti Shukla (Kriti Kharbanda) and her arranged match Satyendra or Sattu (Rajkummar Rao). The two fall in love, but one runs away from the altar while rejection and insult changes the other person, then this romantic drama begins giving us a revenge drama vibe from there on.

As far as individual performances are concerned, Rajkummar is back again with his legendary acting chops and this time too, he does not disappoint in terms of playing his characters sincerely. Kriti Karbanda is as charming as she was in Guest Iin London. She does shine bright as an aspiring career woman in the Jane Austen inspired story.

All in all, this will take you on an emotional ride and will be worth a watch for romantic drama fanatics. But, only if you can let go off their short omings. We felt that the flick could have been way better than how it turned out to be!
