Director Raj Kumar Hirani has hinted at a sequel to his 2009 blockbuster ‘3 Idiots’. The film which starred Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, R. Madhavan and Boman Irani in lead roles became an instant success upon release and broke all records to be the biggest blockbuster of all time. It was also the first film to have made it to the 200cr club.
The film was also released in Tamil as ‘Nanban’ (2012) and there were also talks of a Hollywood as well as a Chinese remake to be produced by Hong Kong film star Stephen Chow. There were also reports about an Italian film studio keen to remake the film.
However now the film’s director has hinted the possibility of a sequel, Hirani is reported to have said, “Aamir is always a complete joy to work with. He is one of those rare persons, who gets completely involved in the film. So, I would love to work with him. In fact, in between, we have a great idea for 3 Idiots 2. It’s still very sketchy, but out of excitement, Abhijat and I bounced the idea to Aamir, and he is also very keen to do it someday. If that happens, then we would love to work together.”
The film’s other lead actors, Sharman Joshi and R. Madhavan have both in the past gone on record saying that they are eager to be a part of the sequel and waiting for it to begin.
