It is a well-known fact that two of Bollywood’s biggest superstars have taken the surrogacy route for the birth of their tiny tots. Aamir’s son Aazad was born in December 2011 through a surrogate mother and SRK’S tot AbRam was born in 2013 through the same process. The two Bollywood biggies have been very open about this option and have even completely endorsed the same.
However, there seems to be someone who is not very happy with their personal choice and that is none other than Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, while speaking to the media after the Union cabinet cleared a draft Surrogacy bill, she said
“Big celebrities who not only have one but two children, a son and a daughter, even then they went ahead with Surrogacy. Jo cheez zaroorat ke naam pe shuru ki gayi thi woh ab shauk ban gayi hai (What had been started as a need has now become a trend).”
The Surrogacy Bill aims to safeguard the rights of the surrogate mother and make parentage of such children legal.
What do you’ll think about Sushma Swaraj’s comments on the Khan superstars and the surrogacy bill?
