B’Day Special: Ayushmann Khurrana’s journey from Roadies to the heart throb of India

Bollywood’s very own actor-singer, Ayushmann Khurrana turns 33 today. The talented actor is known for his effortless acting and great singing skills. He started his journey at the young age of 17 when he appeared on Channel V; PopStars in 2002. He then participated in the second season of Roadies and even won the show. After Roadies Ayushmann started his first job as a radio jockey at BIG FM, Delhi. He hosted Chai – Maan Na Maan, Main Tera Ayushmann show and even won the Young Achievers Award in 2007 for it.

In 2012 he made his big debut in Bollywood with Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor.  Vicky Donor was a unique and off-beat film. The film was based on sperm donation and infertility. Not just acting but he even sang the famous song Pani Da Rang in his debut film. For Vicky Donor, Ayushmann won two awards Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut and the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer.

After this Ayushmann has always worked in movies which have a different concept and raised issues which people did not want to talk about.

He worked along with Bhumi Pednekar in Dum Laga Ke Haisha. The film was a romantic film which was based on the topic of body shaming. Dum Laga Ke Haisha even won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi for that year.

In 2017 Ayushmann Khurrana delivered two back to back hits – Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. Both the films were small budget films but their content was the king. Shubh Mangal Saavdhan was based on a unique topic of Erectile Dysfunction which was not spoken by anyone in the society till date.

Other than movies Ayushmann Khurrana has also showcased his singing talent in his movies and music album. He has given some hit songs like Saadi Galli Aaja, O Heeriye, and many others.

Ayushmann will be next seen in Badlapur fame director Sriram Raghavan‘s  Shoot The Piano Player. The film will also star the talented actress Tabu.
