Box Office: Is Mahesh Babu a BIG competition to Salman Khan?

Indian distributors or their overseas counterparts would say that 2018 started on quite a good note, given that Blockbusters like Padmaavat and the Salman Khan-starrer Tiger Zinda Hai brought in unprecedented amounts of moolah through the ticket windows.

But it looks like there’s a yet another Baahubali-like frenzy is brewing, the brew-master of which is none other than Mahesh Babu, as his latest outing, Bharat Ane Nenu, has apparently posted a record opening on its home ground as well as abroad, which has made the film the fastest Box Office century scorer of 2018!

Mahesh Babu is a delighted man after his recent outing Bharat Ane Nenu has been doing exceptional business across the globe. The film which released on Friday emerged as the fastest Rs 100 crores grosser in Tollywood (excluding Baahubali franchise). Bharat Ane Nenu has been running with packed houses and the huge positive word of mouth turned out to be a huge advantage for the film. Adding to that, the film even crossed 2 million USD in USA with utmost ease. Bharat Ane Nenu also features Kiara Advani of Fugly, Dhoni and Machine Fame in a pivotal role.

So, given that by just going a little bit wider than usual in terms of the release, Mahesh here is already seeing the kind of response that we have only seen the Khans (And, ahem, especially Salman Khan) receive till date.

Given that currently, Salman is in the mood of giving the Indian box office one helluva treat with his upcoming list of films such as Race 3, Bharat and Dabangg 3, he is more likely to be competing with the Tollywood superstar here more often than not in the near future.

We recall that in a very old interview, Salman was all praises for Mahesh Babu at once. Little did he know that the latter would ever indulge in a shoulder-to-shoulder competition with him.
