If it’s a no from Aditya Chopra and mom Sumitra, it’s a no from Bhumi as well!
Dum Laga Ke Haisha actor Bhumi Pednekar has made quite a name for herself with her debut, and she plans to keep up her reputation of being a dependable artist. In order to do so, Bhumi always seeks help from mentor Aditya Chopra and mummy dearest Sumitra, who, apart from being a career guide to her princess, also looks after her husband’s construction business.
“I have two films this year. But I am not on a signing spree. I want to finish one project and move on to my next film. And I don’t take any step in my career without speaking to Adi Sir about it. He is a part of every decision I make. I have a conversation with him on everything. For Adi Sir and YRF it has always been quality over quantity. It’s not just as an actor but I have such immense love and respect for Adi sir as he has changed my life. He and Shanoo (Sharma, casting director) have shown such faith in me that I can’t say yes to anything without speaking to them.” confirms Bhumi, who has been advised by mentor Aditya Chopra to not sign any movies for the time being.
On her mother’s role in her life as a career advisor, she says “Mom’s a big part of my career, too. She’s so dedicated to my sister and me despite being a working woman and has her own job. When I get a script we both read, jam, jam over it and discuss its pros and cons.We are very close to each other. Mom is very involved in my work — be it my appearances or scripts, she has the last word.”
This is just a way of saying that, if you ever pitch a script to Bhumi, it’s going to go through Aditya Chopra, a brainstorming session with mom (perhaps even a SWOT analysis), and if your idea satisfies all the internally-set parameters (and if you have some luck on your side), she might just say yes to your script!
As of now, Bhumi is not on a signing spree. She is working on two movies simultaneously, namely Toilet – Ek Prem Katha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. The artist and her mentors firmly believe in quality over quantity. And even if you get a yes, don’t expect the work to start this year.
We wish Bhumi a very promising and self-satisfying career ahead!
