Irrfan’s Hindi Medium and Sachin’s movie go tax-free

If you have been thinking about watching Irrfan Khan’s Hindi Medium but are a bit reluctant to pay the ridiculously high weekend rates, here is a bit of a breather for you.

The Maharashtra Government has taken a decision that Irrfan Khan’s satirical film, Hindi Medium will be screened tax-free across the state!

And overwhelmed Bhushan Kumar said “I would like to thank Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for announcing our film ‘Hindi Medium’ as tax-free in the state. The film has already got a tax exemption in Gujarat. We are very glad to share the news”

Lead star Irrfan Khan, while one of the screenings said “This is a great step, more people will watch the movie as it is tax-free now. The film addresses a social issue and it is a family entertainer. So it needs to reach a wider audience. I hope the film gets tax exemption in other states as well.”

On the other hand, Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s upcoming biopic, Sachin: A Billion Dreams has also been declared Tax Free in Kerela and Chattisgarh. Ravi Bagchandka, the person who produced the film under his banner 200NotOut productions, had stated the following “We are pleased that ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ is tax-free in the states of Kerala and Chhattisgarh”

To this, the producer added, “The film is a tribute to the hard work and determination of one individual, but it is also an inspiring lesson for the youth of today who clearly needs a real-life hero, to prove to them that success comes to those who strive, against all odds.”

He concluded his statement with “Thanks to the tax exemption in these states, many more people will be able to watch the inspiring story of Sachin Tendulkar, and learn from or about how he overcame the darker, more testing phases of his life”

While Hindi Medium has started its box office run from today, Sachin: A Billion Dreams is slated to release on May 26!
