Irrfan Khan, after being in London for a year-and-a-half for his treatment, has finally come back to India, albeit surreptitiously. The actor is now gearing up to complete all his pending professional assignments and also taking up further projects. The first one is the Hindi Medium sequel, which will be directed by Homi Adajania this time. Talking about the leading lady, Kareena Kapoor Khan has been signed on to play the role, who will essay the role of his wife.
Radhika Madan, who starred in Pataakha and Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota, will play the couple’s teenage daughter. A source said, “The sequel, just like the original, will raise pertinent questions about our education system and society. While the first part revolved around a couple that struggled to get their little daughter admitted to a good school, the sequel will see their daughter going to the US for higher education and facing trouble fitting into a system where English is the primary spoken language.”
It added, “The film will address the struggle of people from different origins who go to the US to study and try to fit in. The sequel will also see Deepak Dobriyal returning as Shyam but in a longer role, this time as his son Mohan will also be making some important choices on higher education and career goals. Irrfan’s daughter’s character is said to be as headstrong and opinionated as her mom, Meeta.”
Reportedly titled English Medium, the film is likely to go on floors in April in Delhi!
