Dev Patel earns an Oscar nomination for ‘Lion’!
Kudos to Dev Patel! The Indian-British actor receives Oscar nomination for ‘Lion’ which is soon to be released in India and Australia. He will be competing for the Best Actor in a supporting Role at the 89th Academy Awards, to be held on February 26.
This Indian-British actor earlier lost an award for the best performance in a Supporting Role to the actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson at the 74thGolden Globes; he said “I would be lying if I say that awards are not amazing. Awards can really change someone’s career. You get recognition. You might get scripts that you didn’t get earlier. But I never took up project thinking about a golden statue.”
‘Lion’ is based on Saroo Brierly’s best-selling autobiography ‘A Long Way Home’. The film is based on a true story about an Indian boy who falls asleep in a moving train only to wake up and realize that he is miles away from his home, and eventually lands up at an eccentric territory and doesn’t even know to speak that particular language. Before getting adopted by a couple in Australia, he faces multiple hurdles in his life and in the end he sets out to find his lost family.
We are thrilled for the actor’s nomination. Here’s wishing he wins the trophy this time!
