Aamir Khan wants Dangal to be tax-free
His upcoming film ‘Dangal’ should be made tax-free, feels Aamir Khan. The film, based on the life of Gold Medal winning Indian wrestler Geeta Phogat advocates women empowerment. It shows how a veteran wrestler prepares his daughters to become world champions in wrestling and in the process, fights a male dominated society, its beliefs and practices.
Aamir told a leading daily, “I believe it’s a film which has the parameters of getting a tax exemption. So I think it falls under that category. But that’s not for me to decide. Ultimately, it is for the state governments in each state to decide that. But we will be applying for tax exemption and we are going to try for it before the release. But it’s a process, it may happen or it may not happen. I can’t predict how long will it take.”
Aamir recently attended Geeta Phogat’s wedding in Haryana. The actor plays the character of Geeta’s father, Mahavir Singh Phogat in the film, which is slated to hit theatres on 23rd December.
