From Race 3 to Sanju, 5 films that you MUST watch this June
2018 has been a great year at the movies so far and it seems like it will continue to be so. While the first half of this year saw releases like that of Padmaavat, Pad Man, Raid, Parmanu, Hickhi, October, Beyond The Clouds and many other boundary-pushing films, the second half of 2018 seems to be a thoroughly entertaining one with films like Simmba, Zero, Thugs Of Hindostan, Total Dhamaal, Student Of The Year 2, Gold and Kedarnath. Uff, the list can go on and on and on!
But, today, we are going to focus on the films that have released or are about to be in the month of June and why we think are going to be worth the inflated weekend movie ticket prices.
So, let’s get down to it:
Veere Di Wedding – In theatres NOW
This Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania starrer is clearly not what you would call a chick flick. This film has the potential to resonate with the audience on a kind of level that hardly a few Indian films have ever been able to do. Watch it while the Veeres are still on their dream run.
Bhavesh Joshi Superhero – In theatres NOW
This film, we personally believe, is an underrated gem of a superhero flick. This gritty Christopher Nolan-esque vigilante drama won our heart due to its engaging content and the sheer earnestness that was displayed by its leading man Harshvardhan Kapoor, who clearly gets a lot to work with and in a sense, he even gets to be somewhat like Iron Man. Watch it while it’s still running in theatres near you.
Kaala – In theatres NOW
How can one miss out on a Rajinikanth film? Well, to be fair, this particular Thalaivaar-starrer Kaala, entertains you in more ways than just simply showing its leading man in its full glory. There’s the legendary Pankaj Tripathi, the charming Huma Qureshi and even Rajini, as is mentioned in our review, gets a worthy opponent in Nana Patekar, who clearly seems to be enjoying his part.
Race 3 – 15th June 2018
It’s Salman Khan! That alone can serve as a reason to watch the third installment of the hugely successful Race franchise. But, apart from the fact that the film is being shouldered by Dabangg khan himself, there’s a lot to look forward to in this Remo D’Souza directorial. The twists seem to be more twisted than ever, the plot seems to be more complex than ever and the action?
Sanju – 29th June 2018
This list would have definitely been incomplete had we not included the film that we are personally looking forward to the most. We are thoroughly waiting to see the Rajkumar Hirani version of the seemingly unbelievable but absolutely true story of Sanjay Dutt, Bollywood’s original rock star. This film is something that, we are hoping, will answer quite a lot of questions that pertain to the life of Dutt, and of course, watch Ranbir Kapoor in the skin of Sanju Baba.
Stick to this space for the latest in Bollywood!
