Is Ayushmann Khurrana’s Meri Pyaari Bindu a rip-off?

The most anticipated Ayushmann Khurrana – Parineeti Chopra starrer ‘Meri pyaari Bindu’ does not have just one standard trailer but five short teasers along with it. These trailers personify five different chapters from the artists’ life.

The first official trailer established an extremely delightful tone, where Ayushmann’s character is introduced as a writer who is reminiscing his lost lover.

Ayushmann plays the character of Abhimanyu Roy, a pulp fiction writer and Parineeti plays Bindu, his beloved. The teaser appears compelling and showcases the journey of the characters which build up over the course of time.

Although many believe the film to be novel, we could easily draw parallels between ‘Meri pyaari Bindu’ and the 2012 Hollywood release ‘Ruby Sparks’

Ruby Sparks portrays the story of a young novelist with a creative block, who types down an imaginative girl who then comes to life. The trailer of ‘Meri pyaari Bindu’ exhibits almost a very similar temperament to that of ‘Ruby Sparks’ where the main lead is an author who is constantly typing out his piece of art.

Only time will tell whether this film is really an ‘inspiration’ of the Hollywood flick or does the movie walk on a completely different tangent altogether.
