2017 ROUNDUP: 5 content-driven films that have won our hearts!
Unfortunately, 2017 has once again not been such a good year for the movies as several big-scale films, except Baahubali, have proven to be total duds at the box office in spite of all the hype around it. This year has just one big release left for the year-end, since Padmavati is slated to release sometime in February. But, this year, we have finally noticed a trend of content-driven films taking over the mega releases and are proving to be silent success stories.
Here, we will look at some content-driven films that have won our hearts already and some which we are yet to witness before the year passes by.
Monsoon Shootout: In this film, as monsoon terrorizes Mumbai, Shiva, a rookie cop struggles to live out two different possible futures after confronting a notorious hit man. This film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vijay Varma in pivotal roles and is about to release coming Friday.
Fukrey returns: Taking the story ahead from 2013 Fukrey, Fukrey Returns tells the tale of what all happened a year after the events of its prequel and brings us back our old adorable Fukra gang. The film released this Friday and is winning hearts already.
Qarib Qarib Singlle: this Irrfan Khan and Parvathy-starrer took up the subject of online dating in a very entertaining way. This film had made it to theatres in the November that went by. The film, apart from its strong content, was widely applauded for the picturesque locations that the story is set in.
Tumhari Sulu: A very happy-go-lucky movie at heart, this Suresh Triveni directorial began its run on the 17th of last month. The film, through its main protagonist, Vidya Balan, tells a story which talks about imbibing a can-do attitude and maintaining a work-life balance. Balan, along with RJ Malishka and Neha Dhupia, won hearts of many movie-goers and is still running strong.
Brij Mohan Amar Rahe: This film belongs to the comedy/crime-drama genre and Nikhil Bhat is the one who has helmed it. This is a film which is about to open sometime in this month itself. It tells the tale of a 36-year-old married who now needs an adrenaline-rush and yearns to break out from his mundane life. To pursue his desire, he decides to fake his own death and transforms into a different person in order to have a new beginning. However, due to some twists in the tale, he ends up getting sentenced to death for his own murder.
