Aamir Khan refuses to release Dangal in Pakistan
Aamir Khan shows patriotism like no other Bollywood actor as he refuses to release Dangal in Pakistan without the national anthem
The Uri attacks of September 2016 increased the political tension between India and Pakistan. While the Indian Motion Pictures Producer’s Association (IMPPA) banned Pakistani artists in India, Pakistan theater owners stopped screening Indian movies.
Earlier this year Pakistan resumed screening Bollywood movies which led to a rising demand for the release of the blockbuster hit ‘Dangal’ starring Aamir Khan along with debutants Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra.
Pakistani audiences have always admired Bollywood movies hence, Aamir Khan and his team agreed to feature the film in Pakistan.
But like India’s CBFC, Pakistan’s CBFC decided to be a prick!
They’ve demanded two scenes to be snipped from the Film before the release as they include the Indian National Flag and the National Anthem.
Mobashir Hasan, Pakistan’s Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) head, told IANS over social media, “Yes, the board unanimously decided to skip two scenes.”
When enquired about the reason for this demand, Hasan said, “The decision is the collective wisdom of the board.”
Aamir Khan has reportedly not agreed to this demand and will not let the scenes be edited out for the film to release in the neighbouring territory. The film doesn’t involve Pakistan and is a sports biopic which highlights India’s nationalistic sentiments.
As of now, Pakistani audiences will be missing out on one of Bollywood’s finest films.
