Is Ajay Devgn’s next inspired by Californication?

We just brought Ajay Devgn‘s next with Luv Ranjan to the attention of our readers. He is said to be seen onscreen in a completely original persona in this new-age Rom-Com. This movie will display Devgn in a sea of relationships which puts him in an edgy space, a quite a relatable concept with today’s youth.

Here’s what Luv has to say “The way I see it, it’s the side of Ajay that comes most naturally to him. His uber-cool personality in real life has seldom been explored. There is a subtlety in his humor that blends perfectly with my writing.”

But, is this avatar completely original? is the concept completely a new one?

When we got the air of this news via a press release, one thing we said to ourselves was “Oh My God! This is just like American entertainment juggernaut Showtime’s TV Show ‘Californication‘!”

Here’s what Californication (2007-2014) is all about:
The X-Files star David Duchovny stars in Californication as Hank Moody (or Henry James Moody III, as he occasionally calls himself). Hank is a writer, a blogger (as he unwillingly attempts to keep up with the Internet age) and an occasional college professor who is constantly battling his insatiable need for female companionship, which, consequently, lands him up in multiple relationships, ranging from his students to his mentees to the wife of his college dean!
He goes through it throughout the seven seasons as he constantly attempts to be committed to the first genuine love of his life Karen (Natascha McElhone), who is also the baby-mama of Hank’s daughter Rebecca (Madeleine Martin).
On top of that, Hank’s character packs within himself a subtle sense of humor, which he displays via a multitude of situational jokes (long story short, he is pretty witty!). This sort of humor is something that the Pyaar Ka Punchnama franchise director Luv Ranjan claims to be, ahem ahem, something that we haven’t seen before.
Although we do not have all the details on Ajay Devgn‘s next just yet, we bet any Californication fan can spot the similarity in the concept in a heartbeat. In the end, Hank abruptly reconciles with Karen, and we hope that the fate of the Ajay Devgn-starrer won’t be the same. Guess only time will tell!
In the past, an attempt to replicate Californication was made with the movie Happy Ending, which stars Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D’cruz, and Govinda.
So, what do you think, fellas? Shower us with your opinions.
