With his 2016 release Dangal, Aamir Khan explored the lives of the Commonwealth Games Champion Phogat Sisters and the story of their rise to success on the silver screen. Even though it has almost been a year since the release, Dangal hasn’t stopped bringing in humongous amounts of cash overseas.
We are well aware as to how the film had fared at the China box office, but a lesser known fact is that the film is also quite a rage in Australia as well.
To honor the business that Aamir Khan has got the Australian ticket windows, the Australian International Film Convention has honored Dangal with the award of the highest grossing foreign film on Australian soil for the year 2017. The convention was held in Queensland Island from 8th to 12th October.
However, Dangal isn’t the only Aamir Khan film which has received this award. Earlier, Dhoom 3 and PK had received the same award for doing massive business down under in their respective years. But, thanks to the hectic promotional schedule of Aamir’s upcoming film Secret Superstar, he couldn’t be at the convention to receive the award.
On the work front, Aamir is torn between Secret Superstar promotions and Thugs Of Hindostan.
