One couldn’t possibly deny that at some point in our lives, we have, in one way or the other, have heard stories of paranormal activities that have either been witnessed by someone we know or, maybe at some point, we may have experienced them ourselves. When it comes to the debate over the existence of other-worldly activities and a ghost universe, as we all know very well by now, people are divided into believers and non-believers. While some skeptical folks have totally refuted the idea of a parallel dimension, there are others who are convinced that there’s more to our world than we can see via our naked eyes.
And now, we are going to bring you ten such stories by Bollywood celebrities who claim to have come face-to-face with the beings of the other universe. Let us tell you that whether you believe in ghosts or not, these stories by some of the most adored celebrities of your country will send a chill down your spine.
So, without wasting your time any further, let’s just cut to the chase, shall we?
Yes, our very own Khilji of Bollywood has had his own paranormal encounter, which took place during the days when the Padmaavat star was shooting for his previous Sanjay Leela Bhansali epic drama, Bajirao Mastani. It so happened that apparently, during one of the toughest shoot schedules of the film, the apparition of Peshwa Bajirao himself paid a visit to Singh and crew.
Speaking about the same, the man shared, “It was a very trippy experience and I completely freaked out. I recall it as one of the most difficult days of the shoot. I thought I felt some kind of presence and something told me it’s him… I had a tough task ahead of me on that day of the shoot and I was praying hard to get it right. There was a black wall on the sets on which some white dust had settled and formed the pattern in the shape of Bajirao’s figure. It had the turban, the eyes, nose, the mooch and the arms. The resemblance was for all to see.”
Yes, yet another talented actor/dancer from B-Town probably came pretty close to encountering a spirit, and apparently, that too of the late musical legend Frank Sintara no less. It so happened that while shooting for ABCD 2, the man holed up in a Las Vegas-based hotel suite which apparently was a favorite of the legendary singer.
Sharing what the experience was like, the October star shared, “The suite was definitely haunted because at night I would hear someone singing and the doors would just fling open.”
Could the man who has played a multitude of characters with shades of grey stand a chance to get spooked in the middle of the scene? We will not rule out that possibility at all. Allegedly, the Manto actor had a ghostly experience while shooting for a ghostly film, Aatma. Reportedly, while Nawaz Bhai was performing a scene, the director of the film noticed that the photo frame behind the actor was a bit crooked, but chose to not rectify that given that his actor was going all in during the shot. But later, the photo frame came down crashing even when there was no wind and nothing seemed wrong with the nail on which it was hung.
What would it feel like if you start sensing the presence of a ghostly character you created for the big screen on your way back from work? Wouldn’t it spook you out? Well, Ram Gopal Varma, the man who is no stranger to paranormal stories, felt that’s exactly what happened with him, as claims that Manjeet, one of his creations for a horror film that goes by the same name, gave him the chills on his way back home from a late night shoot. He felt that Manjeet was staring directly at him and started making footsteps after he initially ignored that feeling of being looked at.
Speaking about the same, he shared, “The director in me was telling me Manjeet couldn’t be there. But the man in me was insisting that she was.”
It would be downright criminal to not include Bipasha Basu in here, as the woman who has done countless ghost movies has her own share of stories to tell, particularly from the days when she was shooting for Raaz and Gunah. Apparently, during her Raaz days, it has been reported that Bips and crew were staying in a haunted hotel, which, interestingly, was shut down shortly after and is still that way to this day.
By now, you probably have already seen a connection between doing ghost movies and encountering ghosts themselves, so, how can we leave out Emraan Hashmi from this list? Look at his filmography! Playing a ghostbuster from time to time is clearly his thing! But, unlike other stories, his paranormal story doesn’t really come from his shooting days. It was during the time when he and his boy band decided to stay in a hotel, which incidentally hardly had any guests. But, late at night, Hashmi heard some horrifying screams, the source of which remained unknown until next morning, when they decided to vacate the premises with immediate effect.
This is probably hands down the most spooky story on this list. Govinda claims that while shooting for one of his films at a hill station, he had a chilling encounter. After a long day of shooting, when the Fry Day actor was taking to bed to get some rest, he was woken up by an old lady who, out of all other places, was sitting on his chest! But, the lady vanished once he turned the lights on. But, here comes the spookiest part. Apparently, that very night, his room, which stayed clean and arranged throughout the day, automatically turned into a mess during the night time.
