10 songs that prove Sonu Nigam is one of the best singers of Bollywood!

Sonu Nigam can be described as someone who’s constantly striving to expand his horizons. He was called by the producers and directors to sing those aching and tragic songs that could leave you moist eyed. And then Tera Rang Balle Balle happened in 1998 in Abbas-Mustan’s Soldier. He became a popular face with the popular singing show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in the 90’s and then forayed into acting with the 2002 Jaani Dushman- Ek Anokhi Kahani.

But we shall always remember him as the man with a melodic voice, a voice that can force you to croon and groove. So on the occasion of his 45th birthday, let’s have a look at his 10 best songs:-

1. Sandese Aate Hain- Border (1997)

The song that started Sonu Nigam’s journey towards success and stardom, Sandese Aate Hain was about longing and hope and can still leave you moist-eyed.

2. Yeh Dil Deewana- Pardes (1997)

Apart from Meri Mehbooba and Do Dil, both sung by Kumar Sanu, Pardes is remembered for Yeh Dil Deewana and continues to attract fans even today!

3. Ab Mujhe Raat Din- Deewana (1999)

Despite being an album, Ab Mujhe Raat Din became a huge rage and was one of the highest selling albums of the year 1999. It’s unfortunate we don’t hear such melodies too often today!

4. Sooraj Hua Maddham- Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001)

The best thing about this film was the song, Sooraj Hua Maddham, and the picturization even more attractive. And when you have Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik as your playback singers and SRK and Kajol as your actors, who can stop it from being a Chart-buster?

5. Saathiya-Saathiya (2002)

A.R. Rahman’s melody couple with Nigam’s soothing voice made the title song of Saathiya one of the best tracks of the album, and one of his best songs as well.

6. Har Ghadi Badal Rahi Hai- Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)

Nobody can forget this iconic song from this iconic film! Talk about the singer and everyone will mention this haunting score that grips you in it’s tune!

7. Tumse Milke- Main Hoon Na (2004)

Qawali never sounded so much fun! That’s all we can say about this thunderous and peppy number from the supremely entertaining, Main Hoon Na.

8. Do Pal- Veer-Zaara (2004)

The legendary Lata Mangeshkar and Sonu Nigam collaborated for this song that was all about pain and anguish of separation. The hurt in their voices was fully palpable and they both made Do Pal a memorable song!

9. Main Agar Kahoon- Om Shanti Om (2007)

If one could sing in his voice, no woman would reject a man’s proposal! It’s not only about the words but there should be a voice that ably compliments them!

10. Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin- Agneepath (2012)

This is Sonu Nigam’s personal favorite and his last great song. After the conquest of Arijit Singh, we haven’t heard much of the singer, but we hope he sings more often and gets more opportunities!

HONORABLE MENTION: Sau Dard- Jaan-E-Mann (2006)

Which one is your favorite?
