Singing this song made Jonita Gandhi’s dream come true!
Every aspiring singer dreams of recording a song or two with their mentor. For Jonita Gandhi, that dream recently turned into a reality. Jonita is the voice behind super hit numbers like Sau Tarah Ke, Breakup Song, Gillehriyan, Pink Anthem, and Ye Jawani Teri. Gandhi got to live her dream with the release of ‘Affu Khuda’, a Bollywood track to which she lent her mellifluous voice alongside her mentor, Sonu Nigam. From the soon-to-be-released Marathi film ‘Fun Unlimited’, the song presents both the singers at their best, crooning a remix of one of the super hit songs from the 60s, Jab Jab Phool Khile.
The song is a memorable one for Jonita, as Sonu Nigam was the one who introduced her to the professional stage. It all started with the need for one singer to perform at his public concert in Canada which led to an invitation to tour with him around the world, which marked the beginning of her career as a professional singer.
Today, Jonita is riding high after checking off an item off her bucket list, singing a duet along with Sonu that fulfils her dream.
Here’s the track for you all to hear:
When asked Jonita she said, “The way I met him was through an online contest he held in 2009 where I was one of the winners. The result was that I got to be part of a tribute to Michael Jackson in which Sonuji also sang. I was thrilled then, and now my dream of sharing a film song with him has finally come true! I’ve always looked up to him growing up, and while sharing the stage with him for years now, I never run out of things to learn from him.”
This goes to show that if you want something really bad, you are bound to have it at one point or the other
