When Shahid Kapoor could have died in the Tsunami during this film!
Shahid Kapoor said in one of his interviews back in 2013 that he has been a bit unlucky. A lot of things that could have gone his way didn’t. Guess he has forgotten how his luck saved him from drowning in the Tsunami back in 2004. Actually, on the New Year’s Eve of 2004, the actor was shooting for his film, Milenge Milenge, in Thailand. The director, Satish Kaushik wanted to shoot a particular sequence with him on the 31st of December. However, he requested Kaushik to delay the shoot as he wanted to attend the premiere of his film, Dil Maange More, which was scheduled to release that day.
Little did he know that the world would be struck by one of its worst catastrophes in history, The Indian Ocean Tsunami, which completely destroyed the very hotel they were scheduled to shoot in. There are lots of other controversial stories that hounded the film right from the first day to the last. Firstly, Boney Kapoor signed Salman Khan for a cameo, however, the actor walked out due to differences with Shahid and Kareena. It was slated to release in 2005 but due to some financial issues, the film continued to get delayed and finally released in 2010. The lead pair refused to dub for the film together as they had broken up. Finally, the actors arrived but separately.
And as fate would have it, due to the visible staleness and datedness, Milenge Milenge bombed at the box-office and the lead pair couldn’t even cash-in on the iconic success of their previous romantic outing, Jab We Met (2007). It’s also ironic that the film which finally gave Shahid and Kareena their first hit and much-needed appreciation for their crackling chemistry, also led to their separation.
