Late Sridevi honoured at the 65th National Film Awards
The late Sridevi, who could pull-off any character in any genre with ease, was truly the star of the marquee. Right from Sadma to Chaalbaaz to Lamhe to Chandni, she never ceased to amaze with her palette of diverse characters and drastically different films. However, she was honored with the Padma Shri in 2013; she was never awarded the National Film Award for any of her performances.
Earlier in February this year, Sridevi had an untimely demise and shocked millions of her fans and well-wishers. Now, the 65th National Film Awards are being announced currently, and Sridevi has been awarded with the Best Actor (Female) Award for her heart-wrenching performance in last year’s drama, Mom. Also, the late Vinod Khanna has been honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Although it’s commendable the jury has recognized their contribution to Indian Cinema, it’s also disappointing to see the same contribution wasn’t visible to them during their tenure at the movies. One cannot help but ask whether they have been actually awarded because of their great work or just been paid tribute because they are no more with us. Having said that, this year’s winners’ list truly boasts off some splendid surprises and some expected wins. Check out the winners right here:-
