Shahid Kapoor talks about the controversy around Padmavati
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for bringing back historic characters on the big screen. His upcoming film Padmavati is also a historical drama, but ever since the film was announced it has been facing a lot of problems. The sets of the film were attacked by many political groups who had issues regarding Queen Padmavati having some intense scenes in the film.
Shahid Kapoor who plays the role of Rawal Ratan Singh, informs the media that the film is made with good intentions. During a media interaction at the Big Zee Entertainment Award, Shahid said “According to me, I have not shot any scene which has been changed. I think there were a lot of presumptions about the film, and people were presuming about the scenes.”
He further added “The clarification has been given that no such scene is there in the film. I hope when people see this film, they will realize that the heart of the film and intent of the film is very good,”
Speaking further about his role in Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor said “This country and the people who live in it, and especially the area we are talking about in the film, will be glorified. I play a Rajput king and my character, I feel, will be admired by people.”
Padmavati also stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Aditi Rao Hydari in key roles. The film is slated to release on 17 November 2017.
