Sanju: When Rajkumar Hirani recreated the original Dutt residence!

Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming directorial, ‘Sanju’, the much-awaited biopic on Sanjay Dutt is one of the most is now just a little over a month away from its release. The teaser of the movie sent a frenzy in the entire nation as the lead actor Ranbir Kapoor (who’s playing the titular role of Sanjay Dutt in the movie) strikingly resembled the original rock star of Bollywood, and hence leaving the audiences mesmerized with Hirani’s craft and vision.

Known for his careful eye for detail in every aspect of his films,  Hirani has left no stone unturned to aptly portray Dutt’s life through the film.

While prepping up for the movie in the pre-production stage, the director had to recreate the house of the actor where he lived in along with his parents. While we all know that the house is no longer there, the director took help from the yesteryear actor’s sister Priya Dutt to recreate the same house for the purpose of shooting for the film. He personally reached out to Priya, who further helped him with photographs and home videos of their ancestral home.

A source revealed, “Rajkumar  Sir wanted to portray Sanjay’s life right from childhood as is and hence we all got into recreating the entire set up for the house where Sanjay originally resided with his parents Sunil and Nargis Dutt. The set creation took about 25 days and once ready, the cast and crew, including the visitors on the sets were shocked and amazed to see it’s eerie resemblance to the original structure.” 

The teaser has garnered immense appreciation for the apt portrayal of Sanjay Dutt’s life. While Ranbir Kapoor is being showered with praises for his amazing transformation into each phase of Sanjay Dutt’s life, Rajkumar Hirani is hailed for his realistic portrayal.

Written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film will also stars an ensemble cast in addition to Ranbir Kapoor which includes Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Sonam Kapoor and Dia Mirza amongst others.

Produced by Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films in association with Fox Star Studios. ‘Sanju’ is all set to be released on 29th June 2018.
