Salman Khan’s production, Loveratri, lands in major trouble
Hindi films being embroiled in political controversies is not new, we all saw what happened with Padmaavat this year. Forget films, even actors are dragged into unnecessary political backlash; remember what happened with Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan when they made a comment on the rising intolerance in India? Now, another upcoming Hindi film has landed in quite a major controversy, and it is none other than Salman Khan’s next home production, Loveratri.
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), a right-wing Hindu Nationalist Organization, has raised objections on the film’s title, as it demeans and insults the Hindu Festival, Navratri. The working president of the organization, Alok Kumar, released a statement regarding the film, “We will not allow its exhibition in cinema halls in the country. We don’t want the sentiments of Hindus to be hurt.”
Loveratri stars newcomers Aayush Sharma and Warina Hussain and is all set for a theatrical release on the 5th of October, 2018. Alas, with this unexpected controversy that has cropped up, it seems the makers either have to change the title or postpone the film’s release date till the issue doesn’t subsidize.
