Ranbir to play a martyr in Shoojit Sircar’s next
After the success of the much talked about film ‘Pink’, Shoojit Sircar is now coming up his next directorial venture. The filmmaker has already announced this upcoming film which will be based on Udham Singh.
Udham is a divisive and side-lined name in the history of India’s independence movement. The freedom fighter assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, the Governor of Punjab who endorsed the orders to fire at a peaceful gathering at Jallianwala Bagh in 1919, triggering one of the bloodiest chapters in Indian history.
At an event, Shoojit said, “He was one of the prominent faces of the freedom movement but youngsters don’t know much about this martyr. He is a forgotten hero. Through my film, I want the youngsters to know him.”
The buzz around B-Town is that Ranbir Kapoor has been cast to play Udham. Now that some of Ranbir’s most recent films have been romantic, Shoojit Sircar‘s next will be considered as a good change for him.
