Padmavati: Union Minister CHALLENGES Bhansali!
Perhaps solely because Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati is a historical period drama, which tells the story of one of the most terrible invasion attempts at Chittorgargh led by Alauddin Khilji (played by Ranveer Singh in the film), the film has been dealing with controversies ever since it’s announcement. If you don’t know what’s going on, you’re probably from a different planet!
Adding to the issues that are already being faced by Bhansali, union minister Giriraj Singh has gone ahead to CHALLENGE the celebrated filmmaker to make a film about “other” religions.
Speaking to a news portal, Giriraj said, “Does Sanjay Leela Bhansali or anyone else have the guts to make films on other religions or comment upon them? They make films on Hindu gurus, gods and warriors. We will not tolerate this anymore.”
Giriraj is not the only one who is taking Padmavati perhaps way too personally. On Saturday, a yet another Union Minister Uma Bharti wrote in an open letter, which read, “Jab aap kisi aetihaasik tathya par film bannaate hain toh uske facts ko violate nahin kar sakte (You cannot violate facts if you are making a movie on a historical event).”
Clearly, a lot of unnecessary troubles have been coming Bhansali’s way. Recently, we also got to hear that Chittorgargh is going to be facing a bandh (lockdown) ahead of the magnum opus and the film’s release has been pushed to the post-election period in Gujarat, which will be somewhere after the 14th of December.
Well, let’s hope that all works out well for Bhansali and team Padmavati in the end!
