Padmavati pushes the release of 102 Not Out!

Today, we finally got to see the first look of Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavati. With the unveiling of the second character, a yet another film chooses to delay the release of their film.

Reportedly, the makers of the Rishi Kapoor–Amitabh Bachchan-starrer 102 Not Out have chosen to delay their film, which was also going to release on December 1.

A (very angry) crew member of the film said, “We had announced our release date months ago. Now, suddenly they postpone their film by two weeks with no thought to our inconvenience. The initial response was to take them on. But then, we decided to not ruin our chances, or theirs. We will come on a different date,”

On the other hand, we can’t help but sense a pattern here. Every time the makers of Padmavati release a new look from the film, one filmmaker or the other delays their film to avoid a mega box office clash. We can’t also help but wonder: Which movie will let go of their release date when Ranveer Singh’s look will be unveiled? Singh is playing a dark character for the first time and based on the looks so far, looks like his character will be the evilest one that Bollywood has seen till date.
