OMG! SSR and Bhumi Pednekar to play dacoits of Chambal!
During the 70’s and the 80’s, films with dacoits playing pivotal roles was a rage, but however, when the 21st century set in, fewer and fewer films were being made until it became totally extinct in the second decade of the 21st Century.
It is well known that the Raabta actor Sushant Singh Rajput (Whose astronaut look is something ladies must be drooling over) had Okayed to play a dacoit of Chambal in a film which will be helmed by the director of Udta Punjab, Abhishek Chaubey. The Dacoits of Chambal was an infamous group back in the 70’s who have an unbelievable amount of murder charges on each one of them (the one running up to hundreds, to be modest).
However, the latest buzz in town is that Bhumi Pednekar is going to be playing Sushant’s love interest in the film, who will also be playing a dacoit. Quite interesting, isn’t it?
A source close to the affair says “Like Sushant, Bhumi too plays a dacoit. She plays his love interest and gave the nod a month ago. The film will be shot in the Chambal ravines and will roll early next year. Abhishek and his team have already begun scouting for locations.”
The writer of the film, Sudip Sharma once said in the interview that “Some of them have more than 80 murder charges on them. Everyone has heard horror stories about the dacoits of Chambal but I’ve realized the reality is quite different from what Hindi films portray. We aim to capture that reality.”
The film will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala (Under his new venture RSVP, perhaps?). We can’t wait for the official announcement of the final cast of the film, can we?
