OMG: BMC to demolish a part of Amitabh Bachchan’s bungalow

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation had issued a notice against Amitabh Bachchan and seven others for illegal construction on Wednesday.

Right to Information (RTI) activists Anil Galgali said “In 2016, Municipal Corporation along with Amitabh Bachchan has issued Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices (MRTP) notice to seven other people. They have made illegal construction in their Goregaon bungalow. They have made changes in their main maps for making illegal construction,”

He further added “They were ordered to remove the violations or submit a fresh plan to the Building Proposals Department,”

Other than Amitabh Bachchan the list also includes Rajkumar Hirani, Oberoi Realty, Pankaj Balaji, Sanjay Vyas, Haresh Khandelwal and Haresh Jagtani

Architect Shashank Kokil had submitted a proposal to MRTP notices on January 5, 2017. The department rejected the proposal in March. On May 6, the P South Ward office issued final orders to remove the violation and continue with the sanctioned plans. Kokil resubmitted the plans after the ward issued another notice stating that the due to non clarity of the regularisation proposal, it is difficult to continue with further actions.

Galgali has even written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for demanding immediate actions against the illegal construction. In the upcoming days, the municipal corporation is investigating to register FIR against Amitabh Bachchan and other people.
