Neena Gupta to play Akshay Kumar’s mother in Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi!

Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi is one of the most awaited films of the year 2020. The movie, which is Rohit Shetty’s third cop drama after Singham and Simmba, will star Katrina Kaif opposite him.

Now if the latest news is anything to go by, the very talented Badhaai Ho actress Neena Gupta has been roped in to play Akshay Kumar’s mother in the film.

Talking about her role in an interview to a daily actress, Gupta was quoted saying to a daily, “This is an interesting role because it isn’t the stereotypical mother who asks his son about food, and marriage etc., but has several dimensions. There is a new temperament to the mother, and you will get to see a very different dynamic between Akshay, Katrina and me. This is a new, sweet and interesting space that I am looking to explore. I am happy that more people will get to see my work. Rohit has made some amazing films which have been appreciated by the audience.”

Coming back to the film, Akshay Kumar will be seen playing the badass cop who beats up the bad guys, while Katrina Kaif will be seen playing the role of his wife. Sooryavanshi team will commence shooting for the same this month in Mumbai, and after 10-12 days, they will go to Bangkok to shoot Akshay’s introduction scene. Helmed by Rohit Shetty, Sooryavanshi is slated to release on Eid 2020.
