Nawazuddin Siddiqui was supposed to work with Om Puri!

One of finest actors of Bollywood, Om Puri passed away yesterday morning. The 66 years old actor suffered from a cardiac arrest. In an interview, Nawazuddin Siddiqui spoke about the veteran actor who also was his co-star in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.

He said, “I have grown up seeing Om Puri’s films. He is my senior and after seeing Naseer and Om Sir’s films, I realized that I should also take up acting as my career. I have seen his films like Ardh Satya and Sparsh. Those films, at that time, had left an indelible impression on me that I decided that I’ll also become an actor.”

He further added, “Om saheb is one of the best actors in the world. Om Puri, long back, had surpassed all the actors who are foraying into Hollywood films now. These days’ actors start boasting about the fact that they have landed a role in a Hollywood film, but it wasn’t the case with Om Puri. Despite playing all his roles in a dignified manner, he was humble and down to earth.”

He also revealed that he was about to start shooting with Om Puri in ‘Manto’ where the deceased actor was supposed to play a judge. He said, “I was about to shoot a scene with him in Manto (Nawazuddin’s upcoming film) and I even had a word with him regarding this, just two days back. He was to play the role of a judge in the film. It’s the biggest loss for our industry.”
