Music composer Amaal Malik bags IIFA award for the second time
The 19th edition of IIFA, which was held at Siam Niramit Theatre in Bangkok, Thailand, saw a night full of dance, music, and glamour. The year 2017 saw many foot-tapping tracks from Bollywood movies that continue to play at every wedding, club or party till date. One such album, ‘Badrinath ki Dulhaniya’ composed by Amaal Mallik, Tanishk Bagchi, and Akhil Sachdeva turned out to be an audience favorite at recently concluded IIFA awards 2018.
The young director Amaal Mallik, who already has multiple accolades under his hat bags another prestigious award IIFA for the second time. Known for his songs like Roke Na Ruke, Aashiq Surrender Hua, Bol Do Na Zara, Music director Amaal Malik along with Akhil Sachdeva and Tanishk Bagchi has bagged the Best Music Director award for Badrinath Ki Dulhania at IIFA 2018. Since his breakthrough with the song, ‘Sooraj Dooba Hai’ which won the Best Music Director category, the 26-year-old has earned several other accolades at various award shows. At a time when it takes a seasoned artist to reach the ladder of success an ample amount of time and experience, Amaal Malik has seen it all just in his formative years.
Excited about this achievement, music director Amaal Mallik, comments, ‘The feeling of winning an award is always special as it boosts one’s drive to strive harder and better one’s craft. I’m so honored to have won my first ever IIFA award for the two songs which happen to be so dear to me in such different ways. The award couldn’t have come at a better time, as my parents celebrate their anniversary too. They’ve probably been the reason why I hold this award in my hand today. Their teachings about and beyond the World Of Music happen to be the decisive factor behind all the good things that have happened to me in my life.
On this special occasion, I would like to dedicate this award to them alone for having nurtured me in the way they have. I still have a long way to go and I hope to always keep that smile on their face, nice and bright. It was my dad’s dream that I do a Dharma Film someday and I’d like to thank my music supervisor Azeem Dayani, for making that dream come true!
I cannot thank you, people, enough for having embraced songs like Roke Na Ruke Naina so dearly. When an artist’s intention is to only go out there and make an honest song, from his heart, seeing it pay off, is possibly the most humbling feeling ever. On the other hand, Aashiq Surrender Hua was such a joy ride. Having the chance to lend my vocals and see it getting the kind of response it got was nothing but overwhelming to me. In closing, I’ll only say so much. This award only means that I’ll backpack a bigger set of responsibilities to entertain you in several ways, always!
