Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro director Kundan Shah passes away

Bollywood director Kundan Shah famous for his cult classic movie Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron passed away on Saturday morning following a heart attack. He was 69.

Kundan Shah was known for films like ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’ (1983), ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ (1993) and TV shows like ‘Nukkad’ (1986) and ‘Wagle Ki Duniya’ (1988). His last film ‘P se PM Tak’ released in 2014.

Kundan Shah studied at the Film and Television Insitute of India, Pune and along with his peers, he introduced the satirical comedy genre in Hindi cinema. ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’ was his first film as a director and is still considered as one of the classics of Hindi cinema. He even won the National Film Award – Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film of a Director for the same. In his later years, Shah directed films like ‘Kya Kehna’ (2000) and ‘Dil Hai Tumhara’ (2002).
