We had always known that Ranveer Singh will ace his role as the menacing antagonist Alauddin Khilji in the upcoming period drama, Padmavati. Then, all it took was his first look poster to really see how cruel he can be as the baddie.
But then, in came the grand trailer and the WHOLE of Bollywood was left feeling goosebumps, primarily because Singh had single-handedly OWNED the trailer without having as much as a single line to say in it.
But, did you know that he, in fact, wasn’t the first one to bring the Delhi Sultanate to life?
The first one was none other than the legendary late Om Puri in a Doordarshan episode, titled Bharat Ek Khoj 26: Delhi Sultanate, Part III, Padmavat & The Tughlak Dynasty
Apart from the late Om Puri, the episode had Rajendra Gupta essaying the character of Raja Rawal Ratan Singh (who was called Ratansen back in the 80’s) and Seema Kelkar as the goddess queen Padmavati.
Also, there is an interesting fun fact attached to this video is that one of the assistant editors is the current Padmavati helmer, Sanjay Leela Bhansali!
