Hrithik Roshan and Ashutosh Gowarikar’s ‘Jodha Akbar’ (2008) was a massive success at the box office with the audience and critics alike, so when the duo announced their next collaboration, ‘Mohenjo Daro’, their fans were waiting for the magnum-opus to release.
However when ‘Mohenjo Daro’ released earlier this month alongside Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rustom’, the Hrithik starrer sank without a trace. The film not only failed to get footfalls in the cinema halls but also couldn’t get favourable reviews from critics. The film could not even recover half of its investment from its domestic collections.
The film’s failure has left Hrithik miffed. The star feels Ashutosh is responsible for the film’s failure and has reportedly sent some angry texts to the film-maker expressing his displeasure.
Ashutosh has a fiery reputation in the industry and the ‘Lagaan’ maker apparently replied back in an aggressive tone, which has now strained their relations. Is this the beginning of a new fallout? Also, Hrithik seems to be mad at a lot of people in the industry today. We wonder if it has anything to do with the volatile personal life he leads.
