CONFIRMED! Saif Ali Khan to play the villain in Ajay Devgn’s Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior!
Ever since Ajay Devgn announced the much awaited historical drama Taanaji – The Unsung Warrior, the film has been in the news. Now, according to the latest development, a new addition has been made to the star cast of the film which is none other than the Sacred Games actor Saif Ali Khan. The movie will mark Saif’s fourth project with Ajay after Vishal Bhardwaj’s 2006 crime drama Omkara.
According to the reports, Saif will play an antagonist in the film which will have Ajay in the titular role of Taanaji. Confirming the same in recent reports, Saif added that he has already begun shooting for the film. Interestingly, Saif will play an antihero for the second time after Omkara.
Though, details of his character aren’t revealed , the Taanaji team believes that Saif will make for an interesting choice to play Udaybhan Rathod, the Rajput officer and fort keeper appointed by Jai Singh, chief of the Moghul army under Aurangzeb.
Coming back to Taanaji – The Unsung Warrior, the movie directed by Om Raut, is based on the life of Taanaji Malusare, a commander in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army and his role in the Battle of Sinhagad which was fought in 1670 A.D., during which he lost his life. The film is slated to release on the 22nd of November, 2019.
