CLASH OF THE TITANS: Is it Rajinikanth vs Kamal Haasan this August?

Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are more than friends; in fact, Mr. Haasan has often said how he treats Rajinikanth as his brother. But when it comes to box-office clashes, actors have no control. That’s exactly what is likely to happen this Independence Day weekend, when Rajinikanth’s 2.0 and Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2 may come face to face. Both the films are rumored to release on August 18.

2.0 has been in the making for quite a while now, and the release date has been pushed at least twice. With a massive budget of over 450 crores and stars like Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, who’s the antagonist in the film, it seems the makers have to come to a fixed release date soon as further delay may harm this ambitious and heavily mounted project. As far as Vishwaroopam 2 is concerned, releasing the first part was more difficult for Kamal Haasan than making it. The Muslim Organizations objected to the portrayal of some scenes and said it showed the Muslims in bad light. So, making a sequel might have been even tougher for the actor-director.

Well, it would be great if both the films get a smooth release but if they end up releasing on the same day, it could be the biggest clash of all time. And wait, the Independence Day weekend will also see the release of another Akshay Kumar starrer, Gold, which is out on August 15.  Let’s see what happens this August!
