Are Aishwarya & Anushka Shetty COMPETING to play Jaylalithaa in her biopic?

Ever since the N.T.R biopic was announced, we couldn’t control our excitement and curiosity with regards to the same. But, what got us excited all the more was the biopic on the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa, who was fondly known as Amma. For the uninitiated, the biopic in question was announced quite recently.

The actress-turned-politician was one of the most worshipped women in Tamil Nadu. Quite a few makers had expressed their desire to turn her life into a biopic, until someone finally chose to make one.

Reportedly, producer Adithya Bharadwaj has roped in the veteran National Award-winning filmmaker P Bharathiraja to direct the biopic. The film, which is titled AMMA: Puratchi Thalaivi, is yet to finalize the actor who will play the titular role.

And, guess what? The actress who was approached to play Jayalalithaa is none other than the   Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the Devasena to Prabhas’ Amrendra Baahubali, Anushka Shetty.

On the other hand, the super versatile Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal are being considered to play MGR, the famous film star and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister who was instrumental in shaping Jayalalithaa’s career.

Jayalalithaa passed away on December 5, 2016 due to a prolonged illness which left the entire nation in a state of shock. Well, all we can do is hope now that the makers do justice to the life and legacy of our beloved Amma.
