Top 10 Diwali clashes of Bollywood

Diwali has always been a big time for filmmakers to release their films. Due to the national holiday, many filmmakers plan to release their films during this time due to which many films end up clashing at the box office. This year, Aamir Khan’s Secret Supersat and Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Again are clashing at the box office.

Here’s a look at top Diwali clashes in the past years.

Shivaay V/S Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)

Last year Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay and Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil locked horns at the box office. Before the release both the films had created a good hype among the audience. Both the movies received good response from the audience. But, Aye Dil Hai Mushkil won the race by earning 112.50 crores at the box office. Shivaay had a total earning of 100.35 cores at the BO.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar (2012)

Yash Chopra’s last romantic film Jab Tak Hai Jaan starring  Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma hit the screens along with Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt action comedy Son of Sardaar. Here Jab Tak Hai Jaan won the race with earning 120.65 crores whereas Son Of Sardaar collected 105.03 crores.

Golmaal 3 and Action Replayy (2010)

Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 3 clashed with Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai’s Action Replayy. The audience loved the third installment of Golmaal franchise, but Akshay Kumar’s film turned out to be a flop. Golmaal Again collected 110.75 crores and Action Replayy grossed only 34.00 crores.

All the Best: Fun Begins, Blue and Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna (2009)

Ajay Devgn’s multi starrer All the Best: Fun Begins clashed with Akshay Kumar multi starrer film Blue and Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna. All the best turned out to be a winner while Blue and  Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna failed miserably at the box office.

Golmaal Returns and Fashion (2008):

The second installment of Golmaal franchise clashed with Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion starring Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut. Both the films did pretty well at the box office.

Om Shanti Om and Saawariya (2007)

Farah Khan’s Om Shaanti Om and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya clashed at the box office. Both the films had created a lot of buzz among the audience, but Shah Rukh Khan’s complete entertainer was loved by the audience. Whereas Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam’s debut film failed to impress the audience.

Don and Jaan-E-Mann (2006)

In 2006 it was Salman Khan v/s Shah Rukh Khan. SRK’s don clashed with Salman Khan’s Jaan-E-Mann. Though being a multi starrer both the films managed to give only a plus performance at the box office.

Garam Masala and Kyon Ki (2005)

Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s Kyon Ki clashed at the box office with John Abraham and Akshay Kumar’s Garam Masala. Though having a big star in Kyon Ki the audience preferred the comedy film and Garam Masala turned out to be the winner.

Veer Zaara, Aitraaz, and Naach (2004)

In 2004 it was Shah Rukh Khan v/s Akshay Kumar v/s Abhishek Bachchan. Eventually, Ram Gopal Varma’s Naach failed at the box office. Veer Zara and Aitaaz received a good response at the box office.

Mohabbatein and Mission Kashmir (2000)

Other than Raees and Kaabil, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan even faced a clash in 2000 with Mohabbatein and Mission Kashmir. Aditya Chopra’s Mohabbatein won at the box office, whereas Mission Kashmir didn’t live up to the expectations of the audience.
