How Deepika & Ranveer proved to be Bollywood’s most powerful on-screen couple!
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, for the uninitiated, are all set to tie the knot tomorrow and on the 15th according to their respective traditions. Fans are waiting with bated breaths to see the wedding pictures and how the power-couple looks in their attire. However, this much-in-love couple is equally, or even more powerful on the celluloid. They have done three films together, all with the maverick Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and every film has been a bigger hit than the other. With a 100% success rate together, they have truly proven to be one of the most successful and popular on-screen Jodis of all time.
Here are the three films they did that rewrote history at the box-office:-
1. Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013)
Their first film together came in 2013. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ranveer Singh came out of the failure of Guzaarish and Lootera respectively, while Deepika had a massive blockbuster in the form of Chennai Express. Together, the trio sparkled and how! This Gujarati version of Romeo and Juliet portrayed a fiery chemistry between the leads and gave us a new Jodi cine-goers could go gaga about. And the film raked in over 114 crores at the box-office.
2. Bajirao Mastani (2015)
Their second outing was larger, grander and more euphoric than the previous one. Bajirao Mastani was Bhansali’s unfulfilled dream that finally saw the lights of the day when he reunited Deepika and Ranveer for the second time. With every frame brimming with grandeur, passion, ambition and imagination, both the actors proved yet again they have the power to ignite the screen with their electric chemistry. And this time, the box-office was set on fire and the film earned 180 crores at the ticket windows.
3. Padmaavat (2018)
They scored a hattrick of hits with this year’s extremely controversial Padmaavat. However, fans didn’t get a chance to see any scene of the couple together, given the story-line of this period drama. Deepika played the role of Rani Padmaavati whereas Ranveer sunk into the role of Alauddin Khilji. Reports suggested that the two had a dream sequence together which was the reason behind the massive protests that almost crippled the film’s release. However, Bhansali denied all such rumors. Well, the film set the cash registers ringing and ended its lifetime run at 301 crores.
With three consecutive successes, it has been consolidated that Deepika and Ranveer are indeed as powerful on-screen as they are in real life.
