When it comes to getting under the skin of the characters, actors have been known to go the extra mile to get it right. Physical transformations have been something that a lot of actors have been doing over the past few years to become the person they are supposed to play on screen. However, quite a few actors are ready to sport hair dos that don’t stick to their status quo. Let’s take a look at 5 actors who voluntarily underwent drastic hair transformations to sport edgy looks for their roles.

Ranveer Singh: The reigning king of crazy, Ranveer Singh went bald for his role of Peshwa Bajirao in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama, Bajirao Mastani. Not only did the Khilji of Bollywood sported the authentic Brahmin ‘choti’ with a shaved head on the screen, but was also seen rocking the look at several public events.

Amyra Dastur: For her soon-to-release film, Rajma Chawal, directed by Leena Yadav, Amyra shaved the side of her head without batting an eyelid, as she’s essaying the character of a young & rebellious girl who is a professional hairstylist. Amyra’s inspiration for her super cool look were Sapna Bhavnani and the kind of look that was donned by Rooney Mara in the movie clled Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Aamir Khan: The true perfectionist in Bollywood rocked a buzz cut with a rather wacky styling to play Sanjay Sharma in the 2008 neo-noir psychological thriller, Ghajini. So edgy was Aamir’s look that his fans went ballistic and a great portion of them got a similar hairdo done, starting a rather quirky trend of hairstyles that year.

Vicky Kaushal: Vicky Kaushal, who has been basking in the success of Sanju and has received a lot of love for his part in it, will now be seen in the upcoming romantic drama Manmarziyaan, which is an Anurag Kashyap directorial. Vicky’s hairdo in the film is super cool, with the front part of his hair colored blue, gold and green to stand out in a crop of black. And, we must say, the Masaan actor looks extremely adorable donning the hairdo.

Yami Gautam: Yami Gautam is the latest actress to join the bandwagon of chopping tresses for a role. The Kaabil actress, who has never had such a drastic hair change prior to her current semi-long bob, underwent the transformation rather bravely. For someone who had luscious long locks and is even known for that, Yami is rocking the bob for her role in the Vicky Kaushal-starrer Uri.
