He was asked by his father, the legendary actor Krishna, to take a hiatus from films to concentrate on his studies. He starred in a film called Bala Chandrudu in 1990 and then directly did Raja Kumarudu in 1999, which became his debut film as a leading man with Bollywood star Preity Zinta.
