Over the past few years, many Bollywood actors have been experimenting with different kinds of on-screen parts. As far as artists are getting to be a part of quality content, they are open to almost ANYTHING. With the advent of different platforms of entertainment, the audience now has a wide variety of options where artists can showcase their talent beyond the conventional medium of films and TV. Talent knows no boundaries and actors stay engaged in doing what they love the most.
Apart from feature films, these actors have been seen doing theatre, a variety of online content, short films as well.
Here is the list of actors who are dabbling their talent on multiple such platforms;
Rasika Dugal
From theatre and web series to hosting and acting in TV shows and feature films, Rasika has tried her hands at every medium known to man. Some of her popular work includes Vikram Kapadia’s play Bombay Talkies, the feature film Qissa, and the TV show POW — Bandi Yuddh Ke. She was the part of the short film, ’Chutney’ starring along with Tisca and Adil Hussain, which landed the Filmfare award for the Best Short Film, and was recently also part of a short film titled The School Bag which has claimed over 30 award globally. She will now soon be seen in Nandita Das’ Manto opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Kalki Koechlin
Kalki has right from the start been experimenting with different mediums, she has been part of independent as well as commercial films like Magarita with a Straw, Ek Thi Dayan, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and has bagged many awards for her contribution to the Indian cinema. Not only that, she has also been part of many projects internationally, she has done a soon to release web series called Smoke. She has also successfully done collaborations with groups like All India Bakchod and more recently, Noise and Printing Machine with Blush Channel making her a rather creative individual
Ratna Pathak
Ratna Pathak stepped into the world of theatre but has immensely enjoyed all mediums. She is known for her work in theatre, television, short films and full feature films. She is most known for her portrayal of Maya Sarabhai in the critically acclaimed Sarabhai vs Sarabhai TV serial and has reprised her role of Maya with a web series, 12 years after the TV show went off air. She also portrayed roles in popular movies including Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Golmaal 3 and Kapoor and Sons.
Mithila Palkar
The young and beautiful actress Mithila Palkar is a YouTube sensation thanks to her web series ‘Girl In The City’ and ‘Little Things‘ and Dice. The actress has won million hearts thanks to her looks and natural performances in all her web series. The actress started off her career with a short film in Marathi Maza Honeymoon which was showcased in 16th Mumbai Film Festival where her presence in the film was much appreciated. She then went on to explore feature by doing the film Katti Batti alongside Imran Khan. Other than being an actor, Mithila also tried singing for a Marathi song that instantly went viral on Maharashtra Day. After exploring the web series platform, short films and Hindi feature films, the young budding actress did a Marathi feature film Muramba where she played the lead. The actress doesn’t have limits showcasing her talent and is expected to explore other platforms of entertainment in the coming days.
Nimrat Kaur
Whether she’s playing a frustrated housewife in The Lunchbox or an ISI Agent in Homeland, Nimrat Kaur will captivate the attention of anyone who is fond of good acting. And yes, she too hails from theatre. Ever since her SRCC days in Delhi University, she has been on stage, and once she moved to Mumbai, she appeared in plays such as Baghdad Wedding and All About Women. Her breakthrough performance came when she was cast opposite Akshay Kumar as his wife in Airlift. Since then, there is nothing that has stopped the versatile actor. Having worked with two of the top actors in Bollywood, Irrfan Khan and Akshay Kumar, Nimrat already nailed it in the long run of top actresses.
Tannishtha Chatterjee
Tannishtha Chatterjee is one such artist who has been exploring almost all platforms of entertainment. From Hollywood to Bollywood and regional cinema, she had done it all. Tannishtha started her career from the Indian theatre and then went on to act in plays with some of the best international directors. She is best known for her performance in Hollywood film Brick Lane, Shadows of Time and the recent released Lion. She has many Hindi films to her credit with the recent release Parched where her performance was applaued. Tannishtha is a known name in Bengali film scene too and now she has forayed into Marathi films too with Doctor Rakhmabai. Like other actors, Tannisththa felt the need of exploring the popular web series platform. She was seen in Culture Machine Web Series Alisha where she tried hands at portraying a negative character.
Sumeet Vyas
This actor made his television debut with a role in serial Woh huye na hamare. And then moved on to Rehna Hai Teri Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein. After which he made his web series debut with popular series Permanent Roommates with The Viral Fever. He has also acted in movies like English Winglish, Guddu Ki Gun, Parched and Aurangzeb. Sumeet was also seen in the critically acclaimed web series TVF Tripling of which he was a co-writer. Now the actor, apart from being the heart throb of the online world, is all set to be seen in lead roles in films including Ribbon with Kalki Kochelin, an unannounced film with Swara Bhaskar and will be seen with Kareena Kapoor in Veere Di Wedding
