5 Bollywood Producers who are going digital!

With the rise of the digital entertainment age in India, we are witnessing several Bollywood names venturing into the digital space. With the reach of an OTT reach and its fan following across various platforms, Bollywood producers, and production houses to have chalked down their digital strategies to reach out on a wider scale than before. While the number of producers entering the new age entertainment era is on a rise, there are a few who have already set their firm foot to embrace the future.

Let’s have a look at 5 such Bollywood producers venturing into the digital space in the coming year.

Vikram Bhatt – VB on the web.

Ace director and filmmaker Vikram Bhatt is an eminent name in the entertainment industry already. He is one of the first few Indian producers to take to the digital space. Now taking their digital endeavors further, Bhatt is all set to launch his very own ‘VB-Theatre on the web’ app this January. The app in question will witness the launch with an original series ‘Untouchables’, which is already in production as of now. This show, ‘Untouchables’, directed by Krishna Bhatt and starring Vikram Bhatt himself, will premiere on the OTT platform and shall be followed by ‘Twisted 2’.

Dharma Production – Dharma 2.0

Dharma 2.0, as the edgy name suggests, is a young and zippy venture by the Karan Johar-led Dharma Productions. With this move, one of India’s most prolific production houses has begun taking baby steps into the digi-space by entering the realm of ad film production and is also marching into the dynamic world of digital entertainment. Dharma 2.0 intends to bring the same standards of the movie production, which is a benchmark for many in the showbiz, to a much smaller screen. Supported by an extremely talented in-house creative team, Dharma 2.0 holds a competitive edge over its other established peers in this very space.

Disney – Bindass Play

Disney pushed the brand Bindass as it merged with Bindass Play and entered the OTT space like a boss. The brand has been the symbol of top-notch entertainment for the Gen-Y and thanks to their next move, they will be able to showcase their storytelling capabilities to a much wider audience.

Zoya Akhtar

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar is all set to explore the digital space by directing a web series, which is titled Made in Heaven, which will have the theme of mafia crib wars. The series in question will be about two wedding planners in Delhi and will stream on Amazon Prime Video shortly. The show will be co-produced by Excel Entertainment and Zoya-Reema’s production house, Tiger Baby, in association with Amazon.

EROS – Eros Now

Leading film production and distribution giant, Eros International is focusing to transform itself into a digital content company by as early as March this year.  The company will be reportedly focusing on launching 1-2 web series every month. The firm also believes its OTT platform, Eros Now, is expected to garner 6-8 million paid subscribers by March.

So, given that so many producers are ready to try their hands in the digi-sphere, are we too far away from becoming a country that will solely consume digital media?
