Vir Das makes it to Variety’s top 10 list of comedians!

After 3 Indian stars made it to Forbes List of Highest Paid Celebrities, another Indian artist has made it to another covered list. Every year, Variety Magazine releases a list of the most sought-after comedians in the world, titled the “10 Comedians to Watch” list. We were happy to see that our very own Vir Das has made it to the 2017 edition of the list, making him the first ever Indian comedian to make it there.

The comics are chosen by a large group of editors, reporters, and critics after extensive discussions with the comedy community, including those that scout, book, represent, produce, and cast comics on a daily basis. It is Variety’s way of predicting as to who is going to rise to stardom in the American Market. Past winners include the likes of Louis CK, Zack Galifianakis, Amy Schumer and Patton Oswald.

His Netflix special – Abroad Understanding has become one of the most talked about and successful shows, which has led to a spike in his popularity over and above his world tour, The Boarding Das, which is currently underway. Other comedians who made it to the list are Brian Jordan Alvarez, Rhea Butcher, John Early, Hassan Minhaj, Tiffany Haddish, to name a few.
