When Aahana Kumra almost DROPPED OUT of Lipstick Under My Burkha

Lipstick Under My Burkha, a film directed by Alankrita Shrivastava and produced by Prakash Jha is a story of four women who are exploring lives and searching for freedom. The beautiful and talented Aahana Kumra who comes from a strong theatre background, plays the role of a small town girl who is desperately hoping to escape her future arranged marriage.

But initially, Aahana almost had lost the opportunity to be a part of this movie because the movie was supposed to be shot when she was shooting for her ongoing TV series ‘Yudh’ alongside Mr. Bachchan. Aahana had to say no to the film but was terribly unhappy about missing out on such a great script, but fortunately, Lipstick Under My Burkha production dates were pushed forward.

In the meanwhile, the team was on the hunt for a perfect fit for the role. But after almost auditioning the entire city, their minds kept coming back to Aahana. Director Alankrita Shrivastava contacted her one more time and asked her if she was still interested for the role in the movie, to which, she unsurprisingly agreed to instantly.

Speaking about this opportunity, Aahana said, “Fortune favours the brave and viola, it came to me again! Alankrita’s casting team Shruti and Parag called me and asked me if I was free in August and I was appalled to know they hadn’t shot the film yet. They said we are still keen on you but now there is an audition process that you have to go through. They had tested almost the whole of Bombay and I too tested for the part. I bagged the role and was so happy to be collaborating on a script that was going to turn into a movement with the most stellar cast!”

Perhaps, it was her destiny to be a part of such a brilliant movie. We are glad that Aahana got the role that she yearned to do.
